Early Childhood Care & Development
At BMRRC, we believe that nurturing a child’s development is a shared responsibility that extends beyond traditional definitions of parenting. Our Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) programme, anchored in the Learning Through Play (LTP) approach, empowers a diverse network of caregivers and community members to foster holistic growth from birth to age six.
The LTP Calendars are a valuable educational tool, empowering parents with information and activities to support their child’s development from birth to age 6 and promote attachment.
At Bala Mandir, we define “parent” inclusively, represented by the acronym PARENTS: Pappa, Amma, Relatives, Elders, Neighbours, Teachers, and Society. This broad approach extends our training beyond individual parents to encompass centre-based (creches and daycare) and community settings through a comprehensive Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) programme.
Our ‘Joy of Parenting’ ECCD training programme and guidebook offers a holistic approach to early childhood development, integrating LTP principles with essential information on health, hygiene, nutrition, safety, school readiness, early identification, and behavioural challenges. Coverage spans prenatal care from conception through the first 6 years.
BMRRC delivers ECCD interventions in socio-economically disadvantaged communities through partnerships with the NGO and corporate sector, with a flagship community-based programme in rural Tamil Nadu running for more than ten years.
With extensive field experience in LTP and ECCD, BMRRC has gained recognition from the Government of India, NGOs, and funding agencies as a leading centre for ECCD training and facilitation.
